In July the European Commission published its proposals for the new Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF). EURASHE welcomes the ambitious plans for an MFF of almost €2 trillion, coming at a critical moment for the European Union. In particular, funding for the Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe Programmes would almost double, representing a significant increase despite inflation. As the co-legislators in the Council and Parliament will be forming their positions on the Commission’s proposals, EURASHE calls for a timely adoption of the regulations, providing certainty for stakeholders from all sectors. While there may be changes to the overall headings, we urge the co-legislators to maximise investment in education, research and innovation, which are key to unlocking Europe’s competitiveness.
