skills community of practice launched
EURASHE has launched its Skills Community of Practice with a successful event held in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain, on February 1st. The launch event brought together education professionals, industry leaders, and stakeholders to explore the importance of skills development in higher education.
The Skills Community of Practice is an initiative for institutions and professionals to exchange ideas, knowledge, and best practices in skills development. It aims to support the integration of skills-based approaches into higher education curricula and to foster collaboration between education and industry. Watch the recording
call for host: eurashe 33rd annual conference
EURASHE is now looking for an association of higher education or an institution to host the 33rd EURASHE Annual Conference, scheduled for spring 2024.
The Annual Conference offers the opportunity to put your association/institution at the forefront of EURASHE, providing visibility on the international scene. It also gives your institution, stakeholders and partners at local and national level the chance to meet international delegates, build relationships, and join new networks.

Bwse 2030
EURASHE, along with other European education stakeholders, teamed up with the European Students’ Union in the frame of the Bologna with Stakeholders Eyes for an Innovative, Inclusive and Interconnected EHEA by 2030 (BWSE2030) Project. Building on the work of the first round of the project Bologna With Stakeholders’ Eyes for a Stronger Future of the Bologna Process (BWSE FORward), the follow-up project BWSE FOR2030 aims to continue supporting the implementation of reforms in the European Higher Education Area.

We want to thank all those who have completed the survey regarding the state of play of Quality Assurance in Europe and the future of the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG). The work on the analysis of the survey. We have asked the Ministries, QA Agencies, Higher Education Institutions and Student Unions about their perception, thoughts and comments on how they perceive the current framework and functioning of the system. The project consortium is currently analysing the responses. Over the next months, we will be ready to share the results with you and discuss them during various meetings, conferences and webinars.

The ATHENA project officially started with a successful meeting held in Brno, Czech Republic. The meeting brought together project partners from across multiple institutions to collaborate on developing recommendations on integrating accessibility and design for all into the HE curricula.

John Edwards, EURASHE Secretary General, participated in a panel discussion at the Economist Summit on skills on February 17th in Athens, Greece. During the panel “Fostering Educational, Transversal and Life Skills”, John Edwards shared EURASHE’s views with Stelios Kympouropoulos (member of the European Parliament), Stefanos Agiasoglou (CEO of Public Road Transport), Kostas Axarloglou (Dean at the Alba Graduate Business School) and Niki Kerameus (Minister of Education and Religious Affairs).

cOUNCIL RECOMMENDATION ON PROMOTING AUTOMATIC MUTUAL RECOGNITION OF QUALIFICATIONS AND LEARNING PERIODS ABROAD
The Commission published a proposal for a Council Recommendation on promoting automatic mutual recognition of higher education and upper secondary education diplomas and the outcomes of learning periods abroad. The Council adopted the Recommendation in November 2018.

The consultation aims to collect information, expertise and views from all interested parties to reach evidence-based contributions ahead of the Commission’s proposal.

VILNIAUS KOLEGIJA PARTICIPATES IN RESEARCH TEAM DEVELOPING AN AI-CONTROLLED SYSTEM
A team of researchers from Lithuanian HEI, including Dr Eugenijus Mačerauskas, Erikas Asaka, and Slavomir Cetyrkovski from Vilniaus Kolegija (VIKO), has contributed to the realisation of an artificial intelligence-controlled relaxation system (dubbed “Chair”) for children with emotional disorders.
This collaboration among VIKO, Vilnius University and Klaipeda University, and with the support of the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA), has enabled to development of a high-tech science project that brings together science and business to help society.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN at hellenic open university
The 4th International Conference on Environmental Design, ICED2023, will be held on 20-22 October 2023 in Athens, Greece. The conference will provide a unique opportunity for experts to interact and apply their knowledge and latest research findings to the design and development of environmental processes. Event organiser Hellenic Open University has opened the call for papers and posters to be presented during the conference. The deadline to submit contributions is on April 23rd.

TRANSVERSAL SKILLS FOR WORK AND LIFE: STRENGTHENING GUIDANCE AND VALIDATION
The TRANSVAL-EU research conference, to be held in Paris on 18-19 April, will:
- Share opportunities to explore and debate dimensions of research, policy and practice in this area
- Share and discuss the results of the TRANSVAL-EU research study, including findings from the study on the outcomes and impact of validation of transversal skills on adult learners’ daily lives and in the labour market. The impact on practitioner competencies and good practices from the pilot study countries (Austria, Belgium, Italy, Lithuania, and Poland) will also be featured.
EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The European University Association’s 2023 Annual Conference will shine a light on what we mean when we talk about university impact. The conference participants will discuss issues as diverse as rankings, excellence and the quest for quality, universities’ contributions to greening and sustainability, their pivotal role in innovation and their proven track record in supporting endangered scholars and higher education systems. Finally, the conference will explore the role of university leadership in delivering these various forms of impact.
The event will take place on 20-21 April and will be hosted by Politechnika Gdańska.
