Arthur Naylor is a graduate of Glasgow University and Henley Management College and spent the first half of his career working in Scotland mainly in teacher education where his main research interest was in pastoral care structures in secondary schools. During that time he spent three years on part secondment working with the Committee established by the Scottish Office that published the first national position statement on Guidance in Scottish schools. He also served on a number of national bodies and advisory committees on teacher education in Scotland prior to his appointment as Principal of St Mary’s University College, Twickenham a post he held until his retirement in 2010.In his time at St Mary’s he also served on national bodies including the Training and Development Agency for Schools and the Universities and Colleges Employers’ Association. He chaired the Council of Church Universities and Colleges for two years during the presidency of Lord Dearing. Currently, Arthur is Chair of the Richmond Theatre Trust, a Director of the Ambassador Theatre Group’s West End Theatre Trust and a governor of the recently established Quest Academy in Croydon where he is the chair of the Education Committee. Arthur joined the Board of Governors in April 2011 and is a member of the Audit Committee.
