A BUSY #EUREGIONSWEEK FOR EURASHE

The European Week of Regions and Cities is the biggest annual Brussels-based event for local and regional governmental authorities as well as stakeholders at all levels. The 2025 edition was a dynamic and productive moment for EURASHE, marked by active participation in a series of key events including: (1) a session organised by U!REKA European University; (2) a meeting of the Sounding Board for the European Universities Initiative; (3) a side event on regional impact of applied european universities alliances.

IAU 2025 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Last week, EURASHE attended the International Association of Universities (IAU) International Conference, which took place in Kigali (Rwanda) under the theme “Building Trust in Higher Education”. As a member of the IAU, EURASHE participated in the event representing the voice of the European applied sciences sector. On Friday, we took part in the Global Meeting of Associations (GMA) which brings together leaders of national, regional and international higher education associations and organisations.

EURASHE REACTS TO MFF PROPOSAL

In July, the European Commission published its proposals for the new Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF), projecting plans for a total budget of almost €2 trillion. In particular, funding for the Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe Programmes would almost double, representing a significant increase despite inflation.

Though EURASHE welcomes the proposal and budget increase, attention must be paid to several aspects in order to promote equal access to funding opportunities for all European stakeholders.

ALGEBRA BERNAYS | DIVERSE BIP ON MICRO-CREDENTIALS

From 15–19 September 2025, Algebra Bernays University hosted the DIVERSE Alliance’s Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on joint micro-credentials. Experts from 11 institutions co-created a comprehensive Toolkit and developed five pilot programmes, paving the way for a shared DIVERSE Approach to Micro-Credentials and more innovative, sustainable higher education in Europe. METROPOLIA UAS | FUTURE CONSTRUCTION HUB HELSINKI

Led by Metropolia, the Future Construction Hub project (TITAN) has strengthened cooperation in education, research, and development within the construction sector, while also accelerating local development. the results and models have been compiled in the final publication Building the Future Construction Hub – An Ecosystem for Learning and Collaboration (2025, in Finnish). OUTFOX | COLOURS DIGITAL COLLABORATION PLATFORM

Outfox, creator of the EURASHE Connect platform, will provide the digital backbone for the COLOURS European University Alliance’s new CoHub platform. Connecting 126,000 students and 12,300 staff across nine countries, CoHub enables secure, GDPR-compliant collaboration, federated access, and seamless integration to drive innovation and cross-border academic cooperation.
