SAVE THE DATE! EURASHE 33RD ANNUAL CONFERENCE
We are delighted to announce the EURASHE 33rd Annual Conference, taking place at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences (St. Pölten, Austria) on 22-23 May 2024.
The event will feature high level keynote speeches, panel discussions, and breakout sessions. It will build on the experience of the European Universities Initiative and other examples of deep transnational cooperation among applied higher education institutions.

QA CoP MEETING IN CYPRUS
The Quality Assurance Community of Practice is currently in Nicosia for one and a half days of working sessions and informal activities. Topics discussed include ESGs, automatic recognition, and the quality of work-based learning. This is the first physical meeting of the broader Community of Practice.

EURASHE AT THE EUROPEAN BIG DATA VALUE FORUM
Our very own Marta Rodrigues, Policy and Project Manager, is speaking tomorrow at the session “Empowering Tomorrow’s Workforce: Bridging the Digital Skills Gap through Higher Education and Vocational Training”. Marta will discuss the challenges, potential solutions and good practices from a PHE perspective.
EURASHE AT THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE IN STRASBOURG
On 28-29 September, EURASHE Secretary General John Edwards participated in the Council of Europe’s Conference of Ministers of Education – its 26th session that was first held in 1959. John delivered a speech during the discussion on the renewal of the civic mission of education.

HACK AGRIFOOD’2023 CHALLENGE LAB
Last week, our member Vilniaus Kolegija Higher Education Institution and AgriFood Lithuania hosted the fifth traditional event “HACK AgriFood’2023 Challenge Lab’’. HACK AgriFood represented the innovative concept of the Challenge Lab, initiated by EIT Food. It is the leading food innovation initiative in the European Union aiming for a more sustainable, healthier and more reliable food system across the continent. Students from different study fields were divided into teams.
SCHOLARS AT RISK – WALLONIA-BRUSSELS FEDERATION SECTION
The Academy for Research and Higher Education (ARES), together with the Rectors’ Conference, French Community of Belgium (CRef), Université libre de Bruxelles, Université Catholique de Louvain and Université de Liège cordially invite you to the launching event of the new Scholars at Risk – Wallonia-Brussels Federation section. This event will take place on 21 November in Brussels, Belgium. The members of the new Scholars at Risk Wallonia-Brussels Federation section are proud to join their forces to establish a dedicated section to champion academic freedom and human rights.
E³UDRES² KICKS OFF SECOND PHASE
On the 1st October, the E³UDRES² European University Alliance entered its second phase after successfully handing in its continuation proposal to the European Commission earlier this year. The main focus for the coming years is on systemizing, intensifying and expanding the existing cooperation of the partner universities throughout Europe. Additionally, the achievements of the network were celebrated during the E³UDRES² Forum 2023, held at the premises of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, Austria.

EURASHE CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Linked to our Annual Conference, we are currently accepting contributions to plenary sessions showcasing alliances for transnational cooperation, as well as for breakout sessions on applied research, quality assurance, skills, and regional impact. The deadline for contributions is 22 December 2023.
Presenting at EURASHE’s Annual Conference allows you to reach a broad audience and receive visibility before, during and afterwards. In addition, contributors from EURASHE members will receive a reduced fee to attend the Conference.

DIGITAL SME SUMMIT
On 13 November, join the first edition of this summit taking place at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), in Brussels. The event will be an opportunity to connect European ICT SMEs and representatives from EU and international institutions, industry associations, researchers, journalists, and many more stakeholders.

EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES INITATIVE CALL PUBLISHED
You have heard about it on every possible channel, but even if you have missed don’t worry – we are here to update you!
On 3 October, the EACEA published a call for 10 new European University Alliances, bringing the total number of alliances to 60. Applications are open until 6 February 2024, and on 10 November you can attend an open information session led by the EACEA and the European Commission.
