EURASHE AT U!REKA CONNECTS MEETING

We are pleased to share updates from our recent collaboration with U!REKA as we work together to develop the European University Alliance initiative and build more presence of the Applied Universities across the European Higher Education Area and the initiative itself. 

In May, Mona Roman (Metropolia UAS), presented our Mission Statement at the UREKA Connects meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic. During the same event, Jakub Grodecki (EURASHE) and Michal Karpisek (E³UDRES²) offered their reflections on the European Universities Initiative.

PUBLICATIONS ON MICRO-CREDENTIALS AND RECOGNITION

The Thematic Peer Group on Lisbon Recognition convention on Micro-credentials and enhancement of quality and recognition processes recently published two documents which may be of interest to our readers:

The provision and recognition of micro-credentials are two sides of the same coin, meaning that designing micro-credentials based on the Bologna tools and supported by existing good practices will also facilitate their recognition.

This report explores the quality of academic recognition procedures in the European Higher Education Area, providing key insights and recommendations on how to better implement the LRC (and, further, the ESG), as well as how to better link recognition and QA.

THE EUROPEAN RPL NETWORK IS LOOKING FOR MEMBERS

The European RPL Network is the association of national networks and institutions in higher education in Europe working on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), connecting and link national networks and institutions dedicated to RPL in the European Higher Education Area. The main purpose of the ERPL Network is to enhance the use of RPL in Higher Education by supporting its members in establishing, maintaining, and fostering sustainable national RPL networks.

DIGIAGRI Project

DIGIAGRI PROJECT KICKS OFF

The DIGIAGRI project aims to upgrade the pedagogical and digital knowledge, skills and competences of practical trainers. It contributes to enriching the teaching profession and promotes food self-sufficiency, lifelong learning, intergenerational networking and healthy lifestyles through freely available plant growing materials. The Erasmus+ project involves four partners Spain, Croatia and Slovenia: Biotechnical Centre Naklo (Slovenia), Institut za poljoprivredu i turizam (Croatia), Federacion EFA Galicia (Spain), Mediainteractive Franc Dolenc, s. p. (Slovenia). The Slovenian national Erasmus+ agency, CMEPIUS, recognised the project as an example of good practice.

MFHEA TRAINING

The Mutual Recognition Coordinator at the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority in cooperation with the European Commission organised a one -day Training Session for the Competent Authorities. The session was moderated by Mr Philip Vella, the Mutual Recognition Coordinator, with the main content delivered by legal officers from the European Commission. A variety of topics was discussed, such as:

  • The key aspects of the Proportionality Test Directive and its application,
  • Clarification of the definition of the temporary and occasional provision of services,
  • Post-Brexit recognition processes,
  • Applicable compensatory measures,
  • Common Training Framework,
  • Document requirements, and
  • the Proportionality Test.

HAKA VISITS MFHEA

A delegation from HAKA, the Estonian Quality Agency for Education, visited the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority’s premises, and it was a pleasure having them here. They spent two days exploring what we do as an Authority and had the opportunity to visit the Institute of Tourism Studies, where they received valuable insights into ITS’s mission and vision through engaging presentations and discussions. Additionally, they visited Ascencia Malta Business School, where they discovered the newly refurbished studio equipped with roving mics, aimed at enhancing higher education for students abroad.
