RESULTS OF THE ERASMUS+ CALL PUBLISHED
On 28 June, we found out which European Universities Alliances will receive funding from the European Commission for the next four years. 14 Alliances were selected, with some receiving the Seal of Excellence. In conjunction, the Commission announced the decision to fund the FOR-EU4All project. Read our full statement below.
CANADA JOINS HORIZON
On 3 July, it was announced that Canada will join the group of non-EU countries that participate in the programme as Associate members. More information can be found in the press release by the European Commission.
EURASHE Projects

AIRinVET FOURTH TRANSNATIONAL PROJECT MEETING
From 2-3 July, EURASHE hosted the fourth transnational project meeting of the AIRinVET project at our Brussels office. The meeting was the second-to-last, ahead of the project’s last six months before it ends in December 2024. The next and final meeting will be in San Sebastián (Basque Country) in October.

EURASHE SOUNDING BOARD ON THE EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES INITIATIVE
On 3 July, EURASHE hosted the first meeting of the Sounding Board on the European Universities Initiative, which brings together members that have formed European University Alliances to discuss key issues in their implementation and monitoring. The Sounding Board was announced by EURASHE President Hannes Raffaseder at our Annual Conference in May.

NEW POLICY PAPER ON MICRO-CREDENTIALS IN VET
This working paper aims to critique the emergence of microcredentials in vocational education and training. It argues that considering microcredentials as a new tool to reorient higher or academic education overlooks the potential of vocational and professional education as well as its aim to equip learners with employability skills, in line with increasing labour market demands. The paper attempts to shed light on learning outcomes of credential holders, as visualised in four distinct scenarios developed.
EIPC POLICY PAPER ON THE GREEN TRANSITION
This analytical report, the last in a series of four, was prepared by the OECD Higher Education Policy Team as part of the Education and Innovation Practice Community (EIPC), an action of the European Union’s New European Innovation Agenda. The report examines how public authorities can promote upskilling and reskilling in higher education to contribute to the green and digital transitions.

EUA LEARNING & TEACHING FORUM CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Contributions are currently being accepted for the annual Learning & Teaching Forum by the European University Association, taking place in Cork, Ireland from 27-28 February 2025.
EUA LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
The European University Association will soon launch this new programme, beginning April 2025. The initiative will bring together up to 20 senior university leaders for a programme that fosters exceptional leadership skills with a distinct European perspective. Applications open in September.

2024 EUROPEAN QUALITY ASSURANCE FORUM
Registrations are open for EQAF 2024, hosted by the University of Twente, Netherlands from 14-16 November. This year’s theme is ‘Enhancing education, research and societal engagement through quality assurance’, with EURASHE chairing the Programme Committee.
