Since 2011 Alar Kolk is President of European Innovation Academy that is the world’s largest extreme accelerator for start-ups providing an opportunities to turn an idea into start-up in 15 days. Holding PhD from Helsinki University of Technology/Tallinn Tech in Industrial Engineering complemented with MIT PhD studies he is currently active in research of Autonomous Innovation at Stanford University. Alar Kolk’s preceding relationship with higher education in the field of innovation comprises experience as Vice-Rector of Innovation and Internationalization at Tallinn University of Technology (2011-2013) and Senior Lecturer at Tallinn University of Technology (2002-2013). He has educated ca 3000 students around the world on the subjects of Strategic Management and Innovation Leadership (BA, MA, PhD). Alar Kolk has as well participated in the IT solutions development for educational institutions as a Member of the Supervisory Board at Tiger Leap Foundation (2009-2012). He has several publications in the field of capability development basing the research on the case studies in Google, Microsoft, Nokia and Ericsson. Alar Kolk has been active projects member of SEB Innovation Lab for 1600 entrepreneurs and iLeader program to provide learning possibility for professionals in unlocking the sources for growth. In 2012 he received The Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP) Award as recognition for exceling in the chosen field and exemplifying the best attributes of the world’s young people.
