The offer of micro-credentials in the European Higher Education Area has grown significantly over the past few years and is expected to keep growing over the next years as a response to a rising demand for flexible, short term learning opportunities to cater to a wider group of learners.

Micro-credentials also fall under one of the key priorities of the European Commission (EC) and is included in the achievement of the European Education Area by 2025, the European Skills Agenda and the Digital Education Action Plan. As part of its work on the European approach to micro-credentials, the EC is launching an Open Public Consultation (OPC, expected April – June 2021) to prepare for a Council Recommendation on micro-credentials by the end of 2021.

EURASHE, in representing the professional higher education sector, aims to publish a statement for the Commission’s OPC by the end of June 2021 based on the outcomes of discussions from the EURASHE Task Force on micro-credentials and inputs from EURASHE members through this PHE Club event and the answers to the questionnaire sent with the registrations for this event
