Transnational cooperation and internationalisation
Research-oriented universities have traditionally been more active on a European and international scale, while applied universities have been seen as more rooted in their local and regional context. Recently, however, applied universities have become more connected, both within Europe and globally. This is a positive development for the sector, as it helps to harness global knowledge and skills and complement them with the hands-on training the applied sciences are widely recognised for.

European Universities Initiative
EURASHE recognises the value of cooperation and is therefore a staunch supporter of European Universities alliances, in which several EURASHE members are involved. Additionally, our dedicated Sounding Board acts as the voice of the applied sciences within the Initiative and its Community of Practice, the FOREU4ALL project.

Strategic partnerships
EURASHE nurtures strategic global partnerships with different actors from the higher educations sector. This includes cooperation with our new affiliate members in Canada, building relationships with applied universities in China and other parts of East Asia, as well as the network created by the Applied eXel framework.

Role of EURASHE
The transnational nature of EURASHE as a pan-European network implies the necessity to build strategic partnerships with organisations situated within and outside of Europe. By engaging in consultations, expert groups, hearings, and policy dialogues, EURASHE has and will continue to position itself as a reliable source of expertise on topics related to higher education while strengthening its position as a trustworthy ally.
