VET4EU2, the European network of Vocational Education and Training (VET) associations, warmly welcomes the appointment of former European Commissioner Ylva Johansson as Chair of the European Commission’s Skills High-Level Board.
This important step marks a renewed commitment at EU level to strengthening skills, talent development, and workforce adaptability across Europe. As part of the European Union’s broader Union of Skills initiative, the Skills High-Level Board will play a strategic role in shaping policies that respond to Europe’s evolving labour market needs. By bringing together businesses, education and training providers, and social partners, the Board will advise the European Commission on how to create the right conditions for lifelong learning, innovation, and competitiveness.
VET4EU2 and its member associations, including EURASHE, represent millions of learners, teachers, and institutions across Europe. With extensive experience in vocational education, training, and skills development, the VET community is uniquely positioned to contribute practical, evidence-based insights to the Board’s work. Vocational education acts as a crucial bridge between education and the labour market, particularly for SMEs, while fostering innovation and inclusion.
