The Association of Slovene Higher Vocational Colleges (Association HVC), recognises the growing importance of international collaboration in vocational education. Strengthening ties with EU member states is essential to increasing the visibility and relevance of higher vocational study programs, both in Slovenia and abroad.

On May 7th, 2025, a delegation from the Association—including college directors, headmasters, and members of the Secretariat—visited Milan to formalise a partnership with Rete ITS Italy by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. The signing took place at the top of the Palazzo Lombardia, the seat of the Lombardy regional government.

During the meeting, both delegations presented their respective networks and institutions, exchanged insights on shared challenges and opportunities, and committed to long-term collaboration. The event was moderated by Alessandro Mele, Vice President of Rete ITS Italy and a prominent figure in Italian vocational education. The event was also honored by the presence of Simona Tironi, Regional Councillor for Education, Training and Employment, and Katja Cimperšek, Economic Adviser at the Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Milan. Both emphasized the importance of international cooperation in education and its positive contribution to bilateral relations.

The memorandum sets the foundation for joint projects, student and staff mobility, and the co-development of study content. It marks a significant step forward in fostering cross-border collaboration and expanding opportunities for learners and educators alike.

Slovenia’s higher vocational education system continues to prioritize future-oriented competencies, combining modern, adaptable curricula with strong links to industry. Students gain valuable hands-on experience through 400 hours of annual practical training with employers, significantly improving their employment prospects and ensuring alignment with evolving labor market needs.
