Dr Rose Anne Cuschieri, CEO of the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), took part in a regional consultative meeting on the Commonwealth Credit Transfer Framework for Micro-Credential.

Micro-credentials are gaining global traction as flexible, digital learning tools that support lifelong learning, upskilling, and workforce mobility. The meeting brought together stakeholders from across Southern and Eastern Africa and the Mediterranean to explore how these short, stackable learning experiences can be recognised and transferred across Commonwealth countries.

The initiative supports the Commonwealth of Learning’s mission to expand educational access through digital innovation and aligns with the UNESCO Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications. A shared framework will enable governments, institutions, and industries to better integrate micro-credentials into national systems—enhancing employability and ensuring that learners’ skills are recognised across borders.
