EURASHE supports the proposal, particularly its focus on connecting higher education to the Union of Skills. We call for stronger integration between research, innovation, and education.

INFORMAL MEETING OF HIGHER EDUCATION MINISTERS

As the President of the Council of the EU, Hungary recently hosted this meeting chaired by Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation. Delegates discussed the European Degree, brain drain, mutual recognition, and freedom of research among other issues.

AIRinVET ATTENDS LYON VET FORUM

The project consortium recently participated in the Forum on Vocational Excellence in Lyon (FR), sharing valuable insights and findings during a dedicated workshop. The event provided an opportunity to collaborate with teams from the DIHUB projectChallenger Projectand BARCOVE.

ATHENA AT ECER2024 CONFERENCE

The ATHENA project was recently presented at the ECER2024 Conference. The intervention focused on integrating Accessibility and Universal Design into higher education curricula across Europe.

Despite growing demands, there remains much to be done. By analysing university programmes in Austria, Cyprus, Czechia, and Spain, the project aimed to offer recommendations for broader inclusion of these principles.

XCII BFUG MEETING REYKJAVIK

Following the adoption of the Tirana Communiqué, this significant meeting marks the start of a new cycle of work for the Bologna Process. As active participants, EURASHE is not only attending this meeting but is also deeply involved in the Board meetings and the preparatory efforts for the upcoming Bologna period.

This Board meeting was crucial to preparing the Bologna Follow-Up Group meeting in Budapest and shaping the 2024-2027 Bologna Process work programme draft. What can we expect? More content and connectedness with stakeholders to the Bologna Process, further implementation of the Bologna commitments, and joint efforts to make the higher education sector resilient and ready for the challenges!

Moreover, we extend a warm welcome to the new European Higher Education Area Secretariat, which Moldova and Romania are hosting.

ERA Conference

2024 ERA CONFERENCE

Last week, EURASHE participated in the 2024 European Research Area (ERA) Conference “European Research Area: Fostering Greater Integration. Advancing Competitiveness” in Brussels.

In addition to the Conference, our association was also present at a workshop on the ERA Hubs, at the European Commission expert group on Cohesion and R&I funding (RIMA), and finally as an HEI stakeholder in the ERA Forum.

DRAGHI REPORT ON COMPETITIVENESS

Former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi recently published a thick report on how to boost European competitiveness in the near future. The report highlights the need for skills development and innovation, in addition to the further enhancement of Erasmus+.

Upcoming opportunities

EIT HEI INITIATIVE CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The call offers an opportunity for higher education institutions and business partners across Europe to collaborate on innovative projects, with the ultimate goal of turning universities into hubs for innovation and entrepreneurship. It will fund 42 projects over 25 months, with a budget of EUR 1.34 million. Applications close on 12 December 2024.

There is still time to register for EQAF 2024, hosted by the University of Twente, Netherlands from 14-16 November. This year’s theme is ‘Enhancing education, research and societal engagement through quality assurance’, with EURASHE chairing the Programme Committee.
