Practitioners and leaders from Professional Higher Education institutions met to discuss quality culture and role of leadership

September, 2019 The Hague – Quality Assurance practitioners as well as leaders from Professional Higher Education institutions gathered together for the second EURASHE Quality Assurance Community of Practice event, which took place on 12 September in The Hague, The Netherlands.

The event, organised together with EURASHE member Hotelschool The Hague, focused on the development of high-quality culture, the role of leaders and people engagement. Mr Joep C. de Jong, founder of training and consultancy company JLS International BV (JLS), opened the day with the keynote speech “How do we engage everybody to be a quality leader? A matter of storytelling!”, emphasizing that all the aspects of the value chain should be taken into account when undergoing institutional change – data, information, knowledge, experience, wisdom, wholeness. His presentation was followed by the second keynote speaker EURASHE QA expert Mr Lucien Bollaert who shared his vision and reflections on the themes of quality assurance, new leadership and quality culture.

Both keynote speeches facilitated to set the context for the workshop sessions, which also drew input from the case study presented by Hotelschool The Hague. Participants had the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas and experiences with relations to the proposed themes of “People and Culture” (what is the role of leadership in achieving a quality culture? How to steer high-quality performance of individuals and teams? What are the characteristics of a quality educator?) and “Processes and Tools needed for Quality Culture”.

The event gathered around 30 participants from the Netherlands and around the Europe.
