GAEN, the Global Applied Education Network, hosted by the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), and EURASHE, the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education, are delighted to announce the first Global Applied Higher Education Summit (GAHES). The Summit will take place in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on the 21-23 of February 2023.
The event aims to bring together all types of institutions interested in employability, integration with the world of work, intense cooperation with industry and innovation.
The fourth industrial revolution is here, and it’s reshaping the world of work. Institutions worldwide are trying to understand how the latest disruptions will affect economies and societies. Things are changing faster than ever, and it can be hard to keep up. New jobs are replacing old jobs with different skill requirements. Therefore, we will need an approach that adapts applied education to meet the exact needs of the fast-changing society.
This first global conference will bring together high-level leaders, researchers, and practitioners from higher education alongside government and business to frame a common response. The main overarching theme is Outcome-based Assessment and Benchmarking of Applied Higher Education, in particular concerning its contribution to:
- Economic and social wellbeing
- Employability and career exploration
- Demand-led research and innovation
- Entrepreneurship and startup development
- Green and digital transitions
GAHES is launching a call for contributions to receive breakout session proposals addressing these five areas. Selected contributors will attend the Summit free of charge.
