The University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien is Austria’s leading university of applied sciences for technology and digitalisation. Currently educates over 4,700 students across more than 30 bachelor’s and master’s programmes. With one of the broadest technical portfolios in Austria, its programmes combine scientific rigour with a strong practice orientation, offered in both day and evening formats. In addition to technical expertise, curricula include economics and personal development, preparing graduates for leadership roles in business and industry.

Technikum Wien is closely connected to employers and industry associations, ensuring strong career prospects for its graduates. A distinctive feature is the close integration of teaching and applied research. Between 2018 and 2023, the institution carried out more than 150 projects with a research volume of €30 million, multiplying its R&D capacity fivefold in the past 15 years. Its current research strategy focuses on five main areas: Automation & Robotics; Embedded & Cyber-Physical Systems; Data-Driven, Smart & Secure Systems; Renewable Energy Systems; and Bioengineering & Molecular Life Science Technologies. In addition, a new development field in Quantum Technologies underlines the institution’s forward-looking approach.

The university is committed to Open Science, interdisciplinarity, and sustainability, with strong contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the EU Green Deal. Through its “Third Mission,” it engages in start-up support, service learning, and public science communication, making its expertise available to society. Internationalisation is another strategic priority, with the institution playing an active role in EU research programmes and global partnerships.
