The French evaluation agency for research and higher education (AERES) is tasked by law with three main missions (evaluation of higher education institutions, research units, and degrees and programmes). As the interactions between the three departments were not organised by the law creating AERES, the agency has developed a process of ―integrated evaluation‖ which allows to feed pertinent information prepared by the department for evaluation of research units and the department for evaluation of degrees and programmes into the departments for evaluation of higher education institutions. This process has required for the definition of the objectives linked to integrated evaluation, the organisation of the methodology adapted to these objectives and the relevant resources to be engaged. This paper aims to give insights into these topics.
