Although an increasing number of quality assurance agencies in the field of higher education across Europe relate the outcomes of external assessment procedures in public reports, these reports largely fail to find readership. This situation is unfavourable as reports on accreditation and evaluation procedures could be valuable tools in fostering transparency of European higher education and providing crucial information about institutions and programmes. The two-year project entitled “Transparency of European higher education through public quality assurance reports” (EQArep) aims firstly to understand this situation better and secondly to increase the potential relevance of public reports. During the session the outcomes of a first survey, investigating the opinions and needs of stakeholders, as well as the preliminary results of a second survey, studying what the agencies themselves think about their reports, will be presented.
