Fostering Creativity in Higher Education: Inviting Students to Contribute

This paper explains the policy introduced by AQU Catalunya,1 the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (hereinafter AQU), to promote higher levels of student involvement in quality assurance procedures and to encourage their active role in putting forward ideas regarding the future of higher education. The context (strengths and weaknesses) for activating student involvement is set out in the first part of the paper, and this is followed by a series of actions to actually bring this about. A third section explains how students can be trained in quality assurance and quality enhancement to better integrate the different tasks that foster creativity in higher education (in quality assessment, in quality assurance policies, and in their role as individual users and stakeholders).
