Abstract | QA in an institution can’t be limited to a system aimed at obtaining (external) accreditation, but must first and foremost aim at maintaining and enhancing the quality itself. Only if an institution is impregnated with quality assurance and develops a culture that penetrates in all its levels, QA can become an instrument for policy making. Therefore QA can’t be the prerogative of QA specialists, but has to get implemented in every fibre of all involved in the making and executing of the institution’s policy. This is only possible when QA is not imposed as a monolithic system, but if it is translated to the specific needs of every section. In doing this, using discipline specific frameworks and standards proves to be a real asset. |
