Quality assurance approaches are used widely around the world. However, a good approach does not always guarantee good results. This paper provides a case study about the 360-degree feedback approach in one Chinese University. In this case, the 360-degree approach was used in the annual performance evaluation. But the results were far behind expectations. What are the reasons for this? This paper analyses the reasons from a cultural perspective. Traditional Chinese culture influences the evaluators’ attitude and decisionmaking process. This results in the poor effectiveness of the quality assurance approach.
