Ann Langenakens is currently Director of Academic Affairs at Erasmus University College in Brussels, Belgium. She has held this position since 2004 in the Office of the President and oversees the departements of Curriculum Development, Student Affairs, Internationalization and Research. Since the beginning she was closely involved in the implementation of all aspects of the Bologna goals within her institution as well as in the introduction of systems of quality assurance and institutional accreditation. As senior member of the board she participates in the institution’s strategic planning.
She holds a Master’s degree in General Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania (Phildelphia, PA, USA) and a Master’s degree in Germanic Philology (literature & linguistics) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Brussels, Belgium). She started out her career as a research assistant and lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Subsequently she moved to the United States where she spent 15 years in Philadelphia. There she studied and worked at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) as a lecturer, research assistant and Director of Dutch Studies in the Department of Germanic Languages.
