EURASHE Working Group on Research, Development and Innovation hold a last meeting before the summer break on 14 of June 2019. For the first time, it was attended also by representatives of the industry and SMEs, following the decision of the Board to open EURASHE’s working groups to the businesses and its representatives.
Mrs Eskarne Arregui-Pabollet (Joint Research Centre, European Commission) discussed with the group members the role of the Professional Higher Education institutions in the design and implementation of Smart Specialisation strategies and new opportunities in developing skills and enhancing growth and competitiveness at regional level under the next the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027.
The presentation was followed by the group discussion on its contribution to the strategic planning process for Horizon Europe, the next European framework programme for Research and Innovation. Furthermore, it has been decided to create a virtual platform for exchange of information related to research, innovation and regional development which will also include information about research groups, experts and peer-reviewers and encourage more efficient exchange of information about the sector’s developments.
