EURASHE will have developed the draft of its strategy for the period of 2018 – 2020 by October 12, 2017. The strategy should identify areas of priority attention of EURASHE, its members and a wider range of universities of applied sciences and other providers of professionally oriented higher education in Europe. The strategy should also outline a framework of potential activities EURASHE and its members will focus on within the next years.
Yet, the discussions indicate existence of various barriers or lack of support for a full development of the sector’s potential in various aspects of its mission – education, up- and reskilling, life-long learning, social aspects and access to education, research, development and innovation agenda, eminent role in regional development… The upcoming Bologna ministerial conference in Paris in May 2018 provides a wonderful opportunity to address European and national authorities and stakeholders with an urge for joint efforts to set relevant conditions for the desired development. While the key themes framework might correspond well with those defined within the strategy, the policy should provide a wider vision and formulate proper messages to the partners and stakeholders while showing the sector’s own commitments.
The policy workshop will provide an opportunity for identification of relevant topics and messages. The event should be the one of the first activities within the process geared towards the EURASHE overarching policy paper for the Ministerial conference. The format should allow informing the participants on key themes, intended EURASHE strategy, as well as provide a space for interactive exchange and identification of key issues to be included within the policy paper.
