The lack of work experience and the skills mismatch between labour demand and supply are two of the greatest challenges for young people to transition from the world of education to the world of work. A promising way to face those challenges are Apprenticeships. However, their implementation is complex and the lack of European guidelines to support it seems to be preventing many of the actors in the sector – higher education institutions and companies, particularly small and medium enterprises – to launch valuable, steady and sustainable Apprenticeship Programmes.

Our mission is to develop management tools that support Higher Education institutions and employers to offer and direct high-quality apprenticeships.

  • A CATEGORIZATION OF APPRENTICESHIPS AND THE DESCRIPTION OF ITS CHARACTERISTICS. This will help identify different types of apprenticeships in Europe, harmonize the dialogue between its actors across countries and facilitate mobility and recognition schemes.


  • A REQUIREMENTS STANDARD TO MANAGE THE QUALITY OF APPRENTICESHIPS. In other words, a document synthesising objectively the most basic needs and expectations to be taken into account, both by higher education institutions and by companies during apprenticeships to assure the quality of its outcomes.


  • A MANAGEMENT TOOLKIT. This Toolkit will contain documents such as manuals, procedures, checklists and other forms to support the implementation of an “apprenticeships quality management system” based on the requirements standard, as well as to support internal and external audits to verify its conformance.


  • A VALIDATION PILOT. The validation pilot will test and validate the developed set of documentation through piloting them in six European countries
