Ana Tecilazić is the Secretary General of the Algebra University College, a professional higher education institution in Croatia, where she is responsible for institutional developments in line with European and national policy framework, comprising all four institutional dimensions – learning and teaching, research and development, cooperation with business and industry, civic engagement and contribution to the society.
Ana’s academic background encompasses the fields of philosophy, languages and interdisciplinary European studies, and presently she is finalising her doctoral thesis in the field of educational and social policy at the University of Zagreb.
Her professional experience has been shaped mainly by working for twenty years on policy developments in higher education in the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education. She has built her expertise in the areas of higher education policies, lifelong learning, employability, quality assurance, recognition of foreign educational and professional qualifications, performance-based funding of higher education, qualifications frameworks, validation of prior learning, European affairs and internationalisation of higher education. Ana used to lead higher education policy developments by chairing national groups and bodies. Most recently, she was the chair of the National Group for Development of Social Dimension of Higher Education, the chair of the National Group for Development of Graduate Tracking System and a member of the National Council for Development of Human Potential as the national sectoral councils’ coordinator.
Ana contributed to higher education policy development at the European level by representing Croatia in numerous bodies, groups and networks, such as the European Qualifications Framework Advisory Group, the European Commission’s Working Group on Modernization of Higher Education, the Bologna Follow-up Group and the Bologna Implementation and Coordination Group. She has been mandated as an observer in the work of the EQAR Register Committee, on behalf of the BFUG, and participated actively in many project and initiatives related to the quality assurance policy developments. Ana has a profound experience and expertise in leading national and international projects funded under pre-accession funds, structural funds, EU Programmes in the field of education and training.
