Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo (AUGM)

The Association of Universities Grupo Montevideo (AUGM) is a network of public, autonomous and self-governing universities in Argentina, Bolivia , Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay who, because of their similarities, share their vocations. These similarities in academic structures and equivalent levels of service place them in a position to develop cooperative activities with long-term prospect of viability. The association was born in August 1991 in response to the challenges that crossed the university life in the world. A set of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) understood the need to work for excellence, quality, relevance and to fulfill the tasks required of public higher education. AUGM was consolidated in the course of the years sharing solidarity, highest personal academic rating, material resources, facilities, equipment, laboratories and libraries to build an expanded common academic space, where obstacles are overcome and the possibilities for action multiply. We contribute to the strengthening and consolidation of high-level human resources and build on the comparative advantages to use the full potential of the installed capacity in the region. We further scientific and technological research processes including innovation, adaptation and technology transfer in strategic areas. We offer continuous training, registered with the integral development of the peoples of the subregion. Our HEI Structures and Management colleges that make up the association allow the interactions of its members and the society as a whole to spread advances in knowledge, which foster modernization.
