The University of Agribusiness and Rural Development (UARD) is a modern, fast-growing institution with three locations: the main campus is in the country’s second largest city of Plovdiv, while the others are in Veliko Tarnovo and in Ruse.

Initially established in 1992 as an independent college, the institution was transformed in 2011 into applied university. UARD’s purpose is three-fold:

  • to develop the human capital for private sector of agrarian business in the rural areas;
  • to engage in applied research and advancement of agribusiness and economy of regions;
  • to provide expert support in implementation of national and European agricultural policies.

To achieve these, the university sets a number of priorities, including good quality and standards in its higher education provision, responsiveness to student needs and expectations, as well as strong partnership with the business.
