Spiros Sirmakessis graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics in 1992 with grade 8.72 and declared a Doctor of the same department in 1997. His doctoral thesis is in the area of computational geometry and multidimensional data structures. Since 1997 he is active in areas such as software engineering, web mining, web engineering and educational software. He is the authors of books and chapters in books (alone or in collaboration with other researchers), and is editor of scientific books in the region. He has published papers in journals (Greek and international) and valid international and Greek conferences. He is a member of committees and reviewer in conferences and journals. Spiros Sirmakessis works with CTI since 1992. Currently employed in Research Web Technologies and Multimedia Unit as a Research Unit Manager and Project Manager. He has participated in the coordination and implementation of research and development projects from 1992 to today. These projects have been funded by national and EU funds. He is responsible of the Usability Group of Research Unit Web Technologies and Multimedia in Computer Technology Institute and founder of hci.gr. In his professional career he has participated among others in numerous review committees. He is Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Informatics in Administration and Economy of TEI Messolonghi where he teaches “Human Computer Interaction”, “E-Commerce” and “IT Project Management”. Since 2004 Head of the Database and Information Systems and Director of e-Business Lab and Human Computer Interaction of the department. In addition, he teaches “Human Interaction – Computer” and “e-Business ” in section Engineering / Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras.
