Anne Murphy has been involved in RPL policy and practice for over 20 years, contributing to a number of EU-funded research projects and nationally funded projects. She was first to develop an APEL model for achievement of a whole award in the university sector, contributed to the development of the Irish policy and operational guidelines for RPL, and was a founder member of the Irish Higher Education APEL Network in the mid-1990s. Until recently she was RPL Policy Officer for the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) and contributed to RPL capacity building for the higher education sector through delivery of a Masters level training programme. Anne’s international RPL work includes contributions in France, Malta, Scotland, England, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Russia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Finland, Malaysia and Mauritius as well as contributing to several study visits to Ireland from the EU and wider afield. She has written a series of RPL practice guides for academic staff and has published several journal articles on the subject. She currently has a policy research and academic consultancy role with the Directorate of Research and Enterprise in the DIT.
