Dr Mark Frederiks is policy adviser international relations with NVAO (Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders), based in The Hague. He is also the Coordinator of the European Consortium for Accreditation in higher education (ECA). The main aim of ECA is the mutual recognition of accreditation decisions. Mark Frederiks has worked previously with HBO-raad, the Netherlands Association of Universities of Professional Education, based in The Hague. He was a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Utrecht. He worked as a researcher with the Open University in London, and with the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) at the University of Twente in Enschede. Mark Frederiks studied Public Administration and Political Science at the University of Nijmegen. He obtained his PhD at the University of Twente (CHEPS) with a dissertation on the effects of quality assessments in Dutch universities. He wrote about 30 publications on quality assurance in higher education.
