Professor George Demosthenous, Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus, obtained the Diploma of Mechanical Engineering and a Doctorate from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. In his previous position as Vice-Rector of Frederick University he was responsible for the development, operation and evaluation of all new undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs of study. He was also responsible for the program review and re-evaluation of all programs of study of the University and has collaborated with the University’s Internal Quality Assurance Committee on matters relating to teaching evaluation of the academic staff and the advancement of effective teaching methods and technologies. He was systematically involved with issues pertaining to quality assurance in higher education. From his research work a large number of publications have been published in international scientific journals and conferences. He also is the co-author of two scientific books. Professor George Demosthenous is the President of the Foundation for the Management for the European Lifelong Learning Programmes and a member of the Cyprus Scientific Council.
