Paul Benneworth is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. Paul’s research concerns the relationships between universities and society in the context of the knowledge economy through understanding the dynamics of knowledge between university, policy, business and societal spheres. He has a long tradition of studying universities’ contributions to less favoured regions in terms of stimulating innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development. He is the editor of a number of recent volumes on this topic, including Making 21st century knowledge complexes: technopoles of the world 20 years after, The social dynamics of innovation networks and University engagement with excluded communities. Paul is currently the Scientific Leader of the European Commission-funded Eunivation project, measuring the contribution of universities to innovation capacity in Europe.
